Welcome! Bienvenidos! Bemvindo!

High school graduation is a great achievement but thinking about your child entering the "real world" can be an overwhelming & scary process.

Whether this is the first time you are going through the post-high school transition or you've done it before -this space was created to connect parents & guardians. So ask questions, share resources, and support each other...you WILL survive this next stage in your child's life I promise!

Homework Resources for Your Child

Homework and studying are still important (and I promise you your child has homework EVERY night for a minimum of 2 hours) - maybe even more important as students approach their Senior year.

It can be hard as the subject matter gets more difficult and your teen gets more independent to know how to best support them with their homework and test preparation.

In addition to LHS Saturday tutoring and GEAR UP Lowell's afterschool tutoring here are some online resources that might make your life (and their's) easier:

Ever consider that youtube could have more than just Tiger's new Nike commercial on it? Check out Khan Academy:  http://www.khanacademy.org/ FREE online tutorials covering everything from basic arithmetic and algebra to differential equations, physics, chemistry, biology and finance

http://www.studentedge.com/ - provides FREE online homework help in the following subjects:  Algebra, American Government, Biology, Calculus, Calculus (Spanish), Environmental Science, Physics, P\sychology, Religion, Statistics, and US History.

http://www.iryze.com/ - iRYZE is a simple, direct, and self-guiding program which allows the teenager to define who they are and create their own portfolio for organization, studying, communication, and self-advocacy. The Ryzers are workbooks that provide different life tools with self-exploratory questions, the ability to set goals, develop new tools, add artwork and create an individualized portfolio. (GEAR UP is trying to see about discounted rates for interested students/families).
